Calexico, Calif. (Border Report) — It was 13 years ago when, out of curiosity, Diana Daniels drove up to a facility where she heard dogs barking.

It turned out to be the Calexico Animal Shelter right on the border in Calexico, California, about 120 miles east of San Diego...

Bishop the low-rider

Male 4 years Basset mix

We came across Bishop when he was relinquished to the Calexico Animal Control facility in Calexico, California. We’ve come to realize that Bishop likes kids, dogs that are his size or smaller, and he is not a fan of cats. Big dogs tend to intimidate him so we think placing him in an environment with dogs his size or smaller would be ideal. Bishop is very playful and sweet, and enjoys sleeping on a cozy, soft bed and playing with other dogs and toys. Bishop has a funky leg that he was born with, and it does not seem to slow him down or bother him one bit. If you’re looking for a Lowrider that has spunk and energy then please consider adopting Bishop.

Stripes

Female 1 year
This brindle beauty busted out the Imperial County Animal Control facility in El Centro, California. She is now being fostered by a wonderful family who think that she is an amazing dog and deserves a family of her own. She does amazing with kids but is a little dog selective, and we think that is th case because dogs from her past haven’t been very nice to her. Stripes is looking for a stable home that will love her and never abandoned her the way her old owners and never want to physically go look for her. This is a perfect apartment Dog says she does not require a lot of space to run around, her main focus is to be loved on and be with a family.

Ofelia aka Ofi!

7-8 Years Old Female

We need a super chill family for Ofi so she can run the house and come to you when she wants food or pets! Ofi found her voice when she didn’t like the feeling of her belly making hungry noises. Her foster says she’s an amazing girl who just wants to sleep, snack, and walk around the yard all day.Ofi likes people and dogs, and we think she’s good with cats too cuz she just sees them and thinks.

Itzy

Female-2 years-Sharpei mix

Itzy is a gorgeous and playful girl who was doing doggy jail time at the Imperial County Animal Control facility.  Today she’s at Dee’s Rescue living with her sister Bitzy and sharing a kennel till she has a permanent home of her own. Itzy loves letting loose and living in the moment.
She loves dogs and people.

I am currently living outside in a nice neighbors yard in El Centro until I am placed in a home, please share my story and help me find a long term San Diego foster or my forever family.
